Engineering is about solving problems and I love it.

I spent a lot of time out on job sites when I started working for a general contractor. General contractors lead kind of a rough life because it is so hard to distinguish yourself from your competitors. It always comes down to price.

Estimators put prices together on plans that are put in front of them. Sales engineers like me look for the best solution. We often get plans with a design for a regular floor and we will take that and find solutions to problems we see and then quote a better type of floor system. Most times the client likes our plan better than the original design.

Our clients have come to rely on us as a partner. Our business is probably 90 to 95 percent repeat customers whether it’s with the owner or the builder or with the designer. We have great relationships, ones that go back 40 and 50 years, with some of the largest grocery stores,
distributors and food processors, not only in the U.S.,
but throughout the world.

Customer support

They know that we stand behind our product. Construction is an industry with many issues that come up during the life of these large projects. It’s the nature of the business. People like the fact that we take care of problems. We have extended warranties but, even more important, is our dedication to take care of people after the job is done.
